La nuit tous les chats sont gris
La nuit tous les chats sont gris is an ongoing project by Pon-Yu Liu that explores the experience of a young Taiwanese woman living in Paris. Drawn from autobiographical elements, this short film depicts the life of its protagonist, Yun, through the lens of her most ordinary experiences: friends, work, studies, and nostalgia for her homeland. A film about the difficulty of forging a stable identity, Yun navigates both the streets of Paris and her encounters and shared meals in search of herself. Cooking, meal preparation, and the sharing of food become a metaphor for the negotiations between the different identities that make up Yun and with which she must contend. The film thus invites an exploration of a parallel network, in which different identities engage in dialogue and characters from diverse backgrounds care for one another, creating a surprising sense of harmony.
